Bless the Harts Plot: What is it about?
‘Bless the Harts’ is a heartwarming animated comedy series that chronicles the trials and tribulations of the Hart family, a bunch of southerners, always struggling to make ends meet. Jenny Hart, the protagonist, lives with her daughter Violet Hart, mom Betty Hart, and Violet’s boyfriend Wayne.

Each 30-minute episode of this family sitcom follows single mom Jenny as she works diligently to somehow support her family. She works as a waitress in Greenpoint, a tiny town in North Carolina. Meanwhile, Betty has an uncontrollable obsession with lottery cards and masterminds multiple schemes to scam her own daughter. Violet and Wayne also end up contributing to the chaos, promising the ultimate family ride that brings in a riot of laughter during its entire run. Gradually, along the way, the family realizes that wealth is not always about money. They are exceptionally rich when it comes to love, laughter, and friendships.

Slightly similar to the set-up of ‘King of the Hill’, ‘Bless the Harts’, as per creator Emily Spivey, adopts a “loose,” “naturalistic”, and “folksy” animation style, on the lines of Mike Judge and Greg Daniel’s epic, 1997-released sitcom.

When asked about Spivey as the project’s mastermind, Fox’s entertainment president Michael Thorn stated: “Emily Spivey has the uncanny ability to observe the simplest qualities of everyday life, framing together bold characters and hilarious stories built around warmth and heart.” He added, “Having grown up in a close-knit Southern family, she has a deep well of material that has inspired her to create this show, with a phenomenal cast, headlined by Kristen, Maya, Jillian, and Ike. As home to television’s most iconic animated families – the Simpsons, Griffins, and Belchers – we’re thrilled to welcome the Harts to Fox.”
